Much to everyone’s relief, we rode out of Starkwall Castle two days ago, at first light on the 11th day of Erndalar. The Company’s mood improved nearly immediately, and continued in good spirits – except for those of our Equerry, who seemed to grow more distant with each passing mile. He has ridden often in deep conversation with Firena. I have had occasion to overhear some of their conversation; they discuss the Bakluni – traditions, beliefs, approaches, etc. Despite this opportunity to demonstrate his superiority, which would typically cause him no end of joy, Yalinari continues to withdraw. I have even observed him miss several opportunities of engaging Sergeant Nyra in conversation – a pastime I have not previously known him to willingly forego. His behavior is decidedly odd, but if the Lieutenant has asked him about it, she has not made his answer known to me. I will soon step in to discuss it with him myself.
