05 May, 1211 [5 May 1211]

Today we were unable to cross into the lands of Iuz as planned. The river is deep and swift, and no fordings, bridges, or boats were available within several days’ travel, as Nyra and Korkyn verified by means of Astral search.

Dreune determined that the best place to create a bridge capable of allowing us all (including the draft horses and carts) to cross, is a narrow place about a days’ journey south of our current position. We head there tomorrow.

To counter the double threat of Iuz’s lands and the Kemet, Master Sergeant Drathon has instituted a double-guard watch while we are in camp as well as double point riders and outriders while we are traveling. In addition, we will constantly have a mage on duty while we’re in camp, watching Astrally. Unfortunately, that means I will have less time to write in this Journal.

If I am fortunate, there will be little to write about.
